Born and raised in Brooklyn and Long Island, New York, Chef Brett McKee’s culinary journey began with the influences of his mother and the diverse cuisines of his neighborhood. Starting in the restaurant industry in 1974, his career took him from Long Island to Saint Barts, then back to New York’s Hamptons and NYC before finding his true home in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1989.
With over four decades in the industry, Chef Brett has owned and led acclaimed restaurants like Brett’s, Union Hall, Oak Steakhouse, and Oku Sushi. His dedication has earned him widespread recognition, cementing his status as a culinary trailblazer.
Fifteen years ago, he pioneered the shift to private chef services, creating unforgettable dining experiences that go beyond the ordinary. Supported by his exceptional team, including his daughter Cameron McKee, Chef Emmy B, and Chef Kurt Hall, he ensures every event is executed with precision and passion.
